About VPL

  • VPL is a powerlifting competition for everyone over the Age of eighteen, simply film yourself Lifting Bench squat or dead lift, at your home or local gym, send it to us. Pay the fee associated with entering the pool. If your lift is good, you will win a cash reward.

  • VPL is where powerlifters get the chance to compete without -The hassle of traveling -Spending money on transportation -Hotel accommodation -Taking time out of work -Missing family time. The lifting is done at your own time and anywhere you choose. With VPL you compete to win CASH Not cheap trophies!! Your hard work is truly REWARDED

  • The league is 7 months long from March the September. Every month, athletes can submit their best attempts in SQUAT BENCH or DEADLIFT. The cut off time is the 25th day of the month. We will announce the winner on the 30th day of the month. Each athlete is allowed to compete every month during the 7 months league.

  • If an athlete wins a minimum of 2 league competitions during the 7 months league, they will qualify for the Champions League. - If an athlete didn't win any event during the league but submitted five total attempts (5 Months) during the league and placed top 5 once, they will qualify for the champions league. The Champions League will be held in November. More info will follow regarding the location!

  • Every lift is evaluated by 3 separate judges for compliance with VPL rules of lifting. The lift that receives green mark from at least 2 judges will go through to the qualified lifts pool. Each lift will be analyzed to determine the ratio of weight lifted vs body weight. The lift with the highest ratio wins!

  • SQUAT: The lifter shall face the front of the platform. The bar shall be held horizontally across the

    shoulders, hands and fingers gripping the bar, the hands may be positioned anywhere on the bar

    inside and/or in contact with the inner collars. After removing the bar from the racks, the lifter must

    move backwards to establish the starting position. The lifter must be motionless, erect with knees

    locked, only then the lifter can bend the knees and lower the body until the top surface of the legs at

    the hip joint is lower than the top of the knees; only one decent is allowed. The lifter must recover

    at will to an upright position with the knees locked. When the lifter is motionless for 3 sec only then

    he/she can return the bar to the rack.

    Disqualified lift:

    -Double bouncing at the bottom of the squat or any downward movement .

    -Failure to assume an upright position with the knees locked at the commencement and completion of the lift.

    -Any shifting of the feet laterally, backwards, or forwards, during the performance of the lift.

    -Failure to bend the knees and lower the body until the top surface of the legs at the hip joint is lower than the top of the knees.

    -Changing the position of the bar across the shoulders after the commencement of the lift.

    BENCH PRESS: The lifter must lie on his back with head, shoulders, and buttocks in contact with the

    bench surface and with feet planted flat on the floor. Lifters’ hands and fingers must grip the bar

    positioned in the rack. This position shall be maintained throughout the lift. After removing the bar

    from the racks, the lifter must control the bar at full arms extension then lower the bar to the chest

    (the chest end at the base of the sternum/breastbone), hold it motionless on the chest for 2

    seconds. The lifter must then return the bar to arms-length with no excessive/immoderate uneven

    extension of the arms. The bar must be held motionless in this position for 2 seconds before racking .

    Disqualified lift:

    -Change in the elected lifting position after the commencement of the lift.

    -Any downward movement of the bar in the course of being pressed up.

    -Failure to press the bar to full extension of the arms at the completion of the lift.

    -Contact with the bar by the spotter.

    -Placing the bar below the pectoral muscle line as it crosses at the sternum, a.k.a. a “belly bench,”

    DEADLIFT: The lifter shall face the front of the platform with the bar laid horizontally in front of the

    lifter’s feet, gripped with an optional grip in both hands and lifted until the lifter is standing erect.

    When completing the lift the knees shall be locked in a straight position and the shoulders back. After

    2 seconds the lifter can put the bar down under control.

    Disqualified lift:

    -Failure to stand erect with shoulders back, Not locking the knees straight at the completion of the lift.

    -Supporting the bar on the thighs during the performance of the lift.

    -Lowering the bar before holding for 2 seconds.

    I will not use performance enhancing drugs of any kind

    I will respect the judge's decisions and display good sportsmanship on and off the platform
